My Take on Private Christian Schools
November 18, 2008 by KimberlyE · Leave a Comment
Now, I went to a private, Catholic school from kindergarten through Grade 13 in Canada, and from what I’ve seen, the education that we received from the Catholic school system was above and beyond what other schools in our area were learning and accomplishing.
Basically, in our area, you either go to a public school or to a Catholic school…It’s your choice…
I feel that it provided me with more discipline and although there are “bad” things in all schools, especially high schools, I still think we were sheltered from a lot of things that were going on at other schools, not to mention the degree to which we were affected.
My sister went, and both of her children go to these schools in our area as well…not to mention many cousins and friends…
Now, I actually “stumbled upon” the Horizon Prep website, which is a Private Christian School San Diego.
It is important to know what a school’s “mission” is. Not all Christian schools are created equally, and it’s important to find one that you feel comfortable with for your children and that coincides with your Christian beliefs!
When I read about this school, I appreciated what they are trying to accomplish in educating the student, as a whole, in a Christian context, including spiritual, social, mental and physical development.
They view themselves as an extension of the ministry of the Church and express that they are in existence to assist students in cultivating a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Not only that, they help them to discover and encourage their gifts, and to inspire each student to realize his or her full potential in serving God in spirit and in truth.
This Christian School San Diego bases this “framework” upon what is Biblically described as the Greatest Commandment: “To love God with our Heart (spiritually), our Soul (socially), our Mind (intellectually) and our Strength (physically)” according to Mark 12:30.
Their vision is geared towards the preparation of a generation of mature individuals that are equipped spiritually, academically, physically and socially for a life of opportunity and service to the Glory of God!
What is at the core of their values?
Well, they explain, “When Jesus was asked what the greatest achievement in life was, He said; “The first of all the commandments is: Hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one, and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this; you shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”
They feel this is the foundation of their philosophy of education, and find it to be an ideal template to provide a Christ-centered environment of learning.
I think they’re moving in the right direction based on these facts…
They surround the students at Horizon Prep in a nurturing environment and people who LOVE JESUS CHRIST!
If the old adage rings true, “You are just like the friends you keep”, then this is a phenomenal place to have your children learning, growing and developing…Learning about the Greatest Love…That of God’s son, Jesus Christ!
Furthermore, the students learn how to apply Christian principles to every academic subject and how to integrate their faith into every part of their life.

What Happens If I Don’t Accept Jesus as Christ?
July 29, 2008 by Kenney · 5 Comments
One day, everyone on this earth will have heard the gospel of Jesus Christ, have had the chance to accept Him as Lord and savior… and then God’s anger toward sin will be totally unleashed.
Jesus, the “Lion”, will return triumphant and the rightful ruler, and will defeat Satan.
Satan, evil and his agents will be defeated. False religions will be destroyed and those who have loved and accepted Jesus will be rewarded with eternal life.
But those who refused to accept the love of Jesus and him as Lord and Savior will have to face eternal punishment.
Terror Terror Terror
To make this short: there will be many thrown into the lake of fire, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, torture, torment, and the world will be empty (without any love) without any happiness and joy.
1 Choice 2 Sides (Choose Your God)
You either love one and hate the other, or
Love one and despise the other.
In this world, there are only two choices…Good and Evil.
You are either on the side of God or of the Devil. There is no gray area.

How To Get To Heaven
July 23, 2008 by Kenney · 3 Comments
He Was Assured Heaven
Luke 23:39-43
One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself – and us, too, while you’re at it!”
But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you are dying? We deserve to die for our evil deeds, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.”
Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”
And Jesus replied, “I assure you, to day you will be with me in paradise.
How To Go To Heaven
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Do You Know What the “Emergent Church” Is?
July 15, 2008 by KimberlyE · Leave a Comment
I was doing some research today on the Emergent Church as I was unsure exactly what this term actually meant…
According to Wikipedia:
Dr. R. Todd Mangum, Associate Professor of Theology and Dean of Faculty at Biblical Seminary, describes it this way:
“Emergent” is a loosely knit group of people in conversation about and trying experiments in forwarding the ministry of Jesus in new and different ways, as the people of God in a post-Christian context. From there, wide diversity abounds. “Emergents” seem to share one common trait: disillusionment with the organized, institutional church as it has existed through the 20th century (whether fundamentalist, liberal, megachurch, or tall-steeple liturgical). Its strengths: creative, energetic, youthful, authentic, highly relational. Its weaknesses: somewhat cynical, disorganized, sometimes reckless (even in the theological ideas willing to be entertained), immature…”
I believe, then, that “The Secret” and Oprah’s “newly forming church” would fall under this category, from what I can gather.
I also found some interesting information on it on Horizon.org, and wanted to pass it on to you.
While I was at this site, they also had some other great information on a wide array of topics including “I Want a Better Marriage” (Who doesn’t want to make their marriage even better?).
The pastor, Dr. Bob Botsford, actually serves on the advisory for the Billy Graham School of Evangelism and is the host/ teacher on “Testify,” a daily radio program broadcast in Southern California on KWVE 107.9 FM and KPRZ 1210 AM.
His ministry is at Horizon North County and they also have the Horizon Prep and Preschool. Very cool.
So, if you’re looking to Find a Church in Rancho Santa Fe, you might want to check out Horizon.org.

Got Luggage You’re Hauling Around?
June 22, 2008 by KimberlyE · 5 Comments
I think all of us have luggage of some shape or size that we are carrying around. Many of us are so tired from the burden and the weight that it feels you can’t even function.
It can be even more frustrating to see others walking quickly past us, hardly carrying a thing, while we lug around huge bags and trunks of hidden hurts and pains!
You may look snazzy with all that beautiful luggage in all shapes and sizes, and you may be covering up the discomfort and tiredness that you have from carrying them. However, those bags can feel like solid iron to carry.
Watch these fabulous videos to get some perspective and assistance with “checking” those bags with the airline, instead of hauling them around from city to city, gate to gate, and flight to flight.
Luggage – Part #1
Luggage – Part #2
Wow…Really powerful stuff. I really hope you watched the 2nd video all the way through to the end!
Also, keep in mind and be tender with people’s feelings…You have no idea what they are carrying around and dealing with in their life. Check out the post: Doesn’t It Often Feel Just Like This?
